A driver travelling at a speed in excess of the posted limit who causes an accident may very well be cited by the police for a moving violation and found to be at fault for the accident. If it can be proven that the driver's negligence in travelling at a such a speed was the proximate cause of the accident, he or she may be found to be legally responsible for all of the injuries and other damages that are alleged to have been caused by the accident.
