Q: I need to file for bankruptcy but I don't have the money to pay for a lawyer I don't know what to do?

A: You need to first educate yourself as to which chapter bankruptcy you can file, a chapter 7 or a chapter 13. Take the online means test to determine this, and also start to learn about bankruptcy. I have written a pamphlet about chapter 7 and what you need to know, but there is no place to put it up except for my older website at http://www.robertjasondegroot.com

A: Try your local bar association or local legal aid society. Either one of these associations might be able to find you an attorney at a free or reduced cost.
