You asked this under bankruptcy law. If you are in bankruptcy, the trustee can touch your bank accounts. If the mortgage company gets a deficiency judgment they can potentially touch your bank accounts.

Generally No. If you file a Bky and your accts have over the exempt amounts that could be taken by the Trustee. If you are with a Credit Union, it is likely that the accounts are cross collateralized and they can take it regardless.
