Q: My son turned 13 in nov of 2013, his bio dad has never been in his life is it too late to go after child support?

He has only seen his bio dad a couple of times the last time being April 2006. I have never went after child support, one reason because he was always in and out of jails and prisons, well A couple if months ago I was contacted by his bio

dad and I was wondering if it's too late to go after child support?

A: It is not too late! The Alabama Department of Human Resources handles this stuf--FOR FREE. They will help make sure that paternity is properly determined. (Both you and bio-dad should have a DNA paternity test done if he's not on the birth certificate...don't be offended, it's just good practice) DHR will help you establish an appropriate level of child support, and they will hound the cheap son-of-a-gun until he starts paying regularly. If you google "Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Support Enforcement" you will find their website. In turn you will find contact information for your local county. Best of all--it is free! You don't need to hire an attorney for this. DHR will provide one to help you. Now, you need to be prepared, because the 'bio-dad' might try to get visitation rights. He is entitled to this. Don't be worried, though. If he hasn't been interested up to this time, he might make a big show at first, but pretty soon his interest in visitation will fade. Go get him, kiddo!
