West Warwick, RI asked in Child Custody for Rhode Island

Q: Wanting sole custody of children in Rhode Island

We're not married. Separated almost 8 years. Both live in Rhode Island. We have five children ages 10-13-14-19-21. I want Full Parental Custody of the minor children. I will not be asking for child support and do not want him to have visitation rights. The father will not contest in lie of me not asking for him to pay the child support owed [7+ years worth] . How hard is the process and how long will it take?

A: 5 Children - Congratulations. Meet with a local family court attorney to explore the potential conflict points and evaluate the best strategy. Child support waivers are generally frowned upon by the court as they take parental responsibilities most seriously. The most it will take is eight(8) years if none of your children are disabled.
