Asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: After Majority, ex-wife wants me to keep paying child support while he is on college. Must I?

She says that her parents offered to pay my son's college (Bachelors of Science) and she says since he will be going to school full time and still living with her that I should voluntarily continue to pay child support. If not she is threatening to take me to court. Divorce agreement says I will help pay for college, but again her parents are paying. I told my son that child support stops when he turns 19 unless finishes high school between 18 and 19 and that I will help directly, but will not pay mother child support. If she takes me to court can I be ordered to continue to pay support or his college tuition?

A: I have to read the agreement before I can form an opinion.
