A: Technically you do not need an attorney if you want to do your own will (but a non-attorney could never do someone else's will). But there are a lot of technical aspects in drafting and executing a will. I have seen too many DIY wills that go wrong when people just download some forms from the internet. That's what we called "you get what you paid for". The result can be worse then dying without a will because the assets may go to someone that you do not intent to go. It does not cost that much to have an attorney draft a simple will properly. But if you try to save a few bucks now and do it yourself, it is very likely that it will cost you thousands of dollars later to get an attorney to correct your mistake. Ask me how I know.
