Middletown, CT asked in Family Law for Florida

Q: Child jurisdiction

My husband filed for Divorce in FL, Our child and I have lived in MA 3 years now, he's asked the court not to take jurisdiction over the child or child's issues. Does that mean that jurisdiction over the child will be moved to MA and I can file for child support and custody here in MA? There's an open case already filed by FL DOR for support but was not ordered yet. I want to file an answer and waiver to be done with divorce, but I just want to make sure I can still file for support and custody of my child here that I'm not relinquishing any rights.

A: While not logical yes he can get just the divorce in FL. The rest in your state. Use of a lawyer is recommended.
