Q: I bought a mini pot bellied pig from an individual, found out it was not theres to sell, canceled check, can I be sued?

I bought a mini pot bellied pig from an individual, called vet they said they took it to. Found out it was not his to sell. Also, found out vet could not treat the sick pig because it did not belong to me , but another individual. In addition, found out the pig carried a very contiguous illness, that my dog, my children and my self could catch. The vet emailed me over the counter hopefully helpful to the pig until they got ahold of individual to transfer ownership or at least consent to treat. The pig unfortunately passed . I cancelled check before the pig passed so I could have money to treat it, but it passed before I could get it there. I called FL Dept. of Vetenary, USDA, for help to save the pig. Can I be sued for cancelling a check to someone who sold me a sick pig that legally did not belong to them? It has been over a month since all this has happened and they are asking me for money.

A: It appears that you were duped into buying a stolen pig. Report the crime.
