Q: Can a 17 year old move out of there mothers house if they get to school and keep there grades up in Portage county Ohio?

A: With or without parental permission? If your mother does not assent to this arrangement, she could force you to live with her until you are 18.

Let's start with by acknowledging the other attorney is correct. Without the consent of your mother, the answer is no. In Ohio, if you were 18, you could move out and live wherever you want. That being said, if your mother is moving, and I assume that is what is prompting the question, if she agrees, you can do so through court. So, if your mom agrees to you doing so, she should contact an attorney. The paperwork is fairly simple.

However, if your mom and dad are divorced, he could potentially block it so, you need to speak with him as well. Your motives are good but the final decision isn't up to you at your age.
