A: Your obligation to pay child support only stopped when she was 19 years old. You may be paying support to her because she in in college. An order doing that under a case called In re Bayliss, would order you to pay a portion of her college education costs even after she was an adult (19 years old or older). Bayliss is no longer the law, but an old Bayliss order is still enforce -- even though this kind of payment can't be ordered any more. Also, if there are several children to whom you pay support, and one or more of them become 19, you can't just take it on yourself to cut the payments. You must go to Court to get that done. Read your order. What does it say about college? Get a lawyer to help you.
