Q: My company told me that I have to go to the Dr. on my own time for a workman's comp injury. Is this true??

This is for a back injury and I am gong to have to have surgery. Philadelphia pa

A: This is partially true. To the extent that treatment is available outside of your working hours, you have an obligation to schedule outside of your normal working hours. If you fail to do so, you will not be entitled to wage loss benefits for time missed to attend the doctor's appointment. If the treatment is not available outside of working hours, you can seek treatment during your working hours, and you can also potentially receive wage loss benefits for time missed from work.
