Q: My boyfriend lives in Florida & his daughter lives in P.R. Daughter is 20 yrs old and pregnant & moved out.
Child support is in Puerto Rico. Child support gets garnished out of his paycheck. Question is: does he have to still pay child support to the mom if his daughter is pregnant and moved out of her mothers home? Who can he call in P.R. for advice? He cannot afford a lawyer and or a trip to P.R. Thank you
A: Without being able to afford a lawyer, there is not much that can be done for him. But in order to determine if he still has to pay child support, read the final judgment. It might terminate child support at 18 or 21. He might have to petition to modify the judgment.
