Altoona, PA asked in Criminal Law for Florida

Q: How will PA criminal code be translated with the Florida statues (for background check for employment)

My husband has been offered a position in Florida pending a background check. He is a PA resident and does have past criminal charges (misdemeanors) from a stupid mistake he made (over 14 years ago) involving chat on the computer (no physical contact or abuse, etc.). The position he is being offered is in the retail end of durable medical equipment. Apparently in FL, this is considered in the healthcare industry and FL law requires a level 2 background check for employment. The employer sent him a form from the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration so that he could see the listings of charges. None of the charges on the form match up exactly what the charges on my husband's record. Are you able to provide any more information on how this process works (translation between states) for situations like this? The actual charges are Contact/Comm.w/Minor-Sexual Offenses; Corruption of Minors; Display of Obscene/Sexual Materials. All misdemeanors. Not registered sex offender.

A: This appears to be a duplicate question and you even wrote to me about it. Get copies of the specific statutes in PA, and the ones in FL. Compare them and then hire an attorney for interpretation.
