The answer is yes and no, but psychiatric injuries are much harder to prove that they came in and out of the course of employment.

Q: I own an LLC company in New Jersey. We were given permission to perform work for a property management company.

Once we submitted their invoice for payment, they told us the check was ready, but they wouldn’t release it without proof of workman’s comp insurance. Is this legal? They allowed us to perform the work before ever requesting proof of any type of insurance?

Did you have a contract, did they have a contract? Anyway you are required to have workers compensation insurance by law. Sounds like you need to get yourself a good contract written by a lawyer.

Q: I have a NJ based LLC, do I as a employer have to have workmans comp for myself and also cover PT employees?

I just want to make this clearer. Do LLC Owners personally also need to be covered under Workmans Comp. or just their employees?

Yes in general all employers need to have workers comp insurance.

If the injury originally occurred in regards to the course of your employment such as you fell at work and woke up the next morning with a herniated disc and severe back pain WC should cover you.

The question is maybe, especially if it was in the course of employment or if you were still at the work place. I suggest you speak with a lawyer ASAP as much more facts are needed and time lines do exist to file a claim.

I can't speak to the employment law issues, but if the patient was injured or suffered any loss it could actually be criminal in nature. Your responsibility to the patient is separate from you employers duty to you.

In general all corps need workers compensation insurance but you should speak with a lawyer as a way around it may exist. Of course expect to pay for the consultation.

No. They can't discriminate against you because you are pregnant. If you feel that is the case, a consultation may be worthwhile to determine your claims and option.

Q: shoplifting amended

I was arrested on charges of shoplifting. The charges were dismissed and amended to a municipal ordinance. Since the conviction was dismissed and amended to a municipal ordinance this would not be a moral turpitude crime?

For immigration purposes it could be and it would depend on the wording of the ordinance AND what was admitted to in the plea. Thus the reason to make sure you have a lawyer that knows both criminal and immigration law when you are an immigrant in trouble with the law.
