Q: Judge gave me a set aside for homestead as surviving spouse. No kids and an old will all goes to A&M. What am I to pay?

Everything that I have read shows that I have to pay taxes and upkeep on home. The home has no mortgage. I am being told that I have to pay homeowner's insurance. What is the truth? This is in Texas

It sounds like you have a life estate. Life tenants must maintain the house, which should include an insurance policy to protect the remaindermen in the event that the house is damaged. If there was a fire, for example, you'd be responsible to pay for the damages. An insurance policy is cheaper.

Sorry, CPS likely won't do anything about this.

I was in a similar situation, and got a job so that I could spend as little time in my father's house as possible. It sucks, but I think you're stuck for 2 more years. The good news is that by that time, you can save some...

A VP has virtually no power under the constitution (except to break ties in the Senate) and is mainly there in case something happens to the president. The VP's only constitutional jobs are 1) become president if there is no longer a president, 2) preside over the Senate (which will be done by... Read more »

If you don't know of a will, and no will has been filed for probate, then your father's estate will pass by the rules of intestate succession. Here's a link to a chart that explains it. https://texaslawhelp.org/sites/default/files/texas_descent_and_distribution_chart.pdf... Read more »

It is certainly possible to get a lien against the property you loaned money to purchase, but you have to have the correct paperwork completed at the time of the loan. Think of a car loan - there's a note, and security agreement, and the lien is noted on the title. There are different ways... Read more »

Without reviewing the contract, it's hard to say for sure, but I suspect that if you do nothing, they may sell the boat. You could call them and see what arrangements you can make with them to simplify that process.

The answer depends on the circumstances. For example, if you borrow someone's bike, leave it unsecured on your property, and it gets stolen, yes, I think you're responsible. If someone leaves their bike unsecured on your property, you're not responsible.

Nothing has been forfeited other than possession of the truck, but it's unlikely she'll get it back - more likely the relatives who bullied her to get it will lie if necessary to sell it.

Without the will (or heirship information) it's impossible to tell who the truck...

No. A partition is for the division - usually by sale - of certain property, usually real estate.

I can't think of a good reason to remove your name from the title of a car other than having sold it - if that's the case, there's a form you can use to report the sale to the...

Q: How can I get my name removed as the legal owner of a vehicle?

Its registered in my name, but I do not have possession of the car. The actual owner keeps going through toll roads racking up fines. I informed dps that I sold the car over a year ago, but the car is still in my name.
