Q: im a 16yo and my boyfriend is 19 can he get introuble by the law in ohio if my parents don't allow it? in Ohio

im 15 turning 16 and he turns 19 a few days before I turn 16, and my parents say they can stop me from even talking to him and he can go to prison. I know when im 16 I can date him & have sex (im not worried about sex right now) and it be legal but I just want to make sure he cant get in like real serious trouble with the law if I still continue to talk to him.

A: If your parents were to get really upset and you were routinely disobeying them to be with this person, you could be adjudicated delinquent or unruly and he could be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. While you are a juvenile, you are required to obey your parents within reason. Prison is not a likely outcome, but he could get in legal trouble.
