Naples, FL asked in Domestic Violence for Florida

Q: I slap my brother's face and he pressed charges against me. Now DV. What happen if he doesn't show up at the pre trial?

I just wanted to motivated him to work. He doesn't work for over 8 years, live with my parents, sleep all day and doesn't pay child support to his daughter for at least 7 years or more. He is 40 years old, needs to pay to NYS 28,000 on child support. I slapped his face twice saying that he needs to do something, there is no marks on his face, but I went to jail anyway. I have the pre trial soon, he told my father that he is not going to show up. This is going to help me or make things worse? He needs to talk to my attorney? What should I do?

A: Speak only with your attorney about this. The brother is not required to be at the pre trial
