Orlando, FL asked in Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: Does the landlord have a duty to secure the door or a vacant apartment next door to me.

The landlord recently evicted a group of squaters that were living there. A few days ago the Condo association told me they removed the door hardware from the apartment to make it difficult for squaters to gain control again. I advised that this created a severe security risk for myself and my family as well as the other tenants in the building. My wife suffers from anxiety and this is escalating it. I asked them to secure the apartment and they have not done so. What recourse do we have in this instance.

A: Read the by laws of the condo association and go see an attorney.
