Miami, FL asked in Family Law for Florida

Q: If my ex is on child support can he stop me from moving from FL to GA?

My ex was placed on child support. He lived in Tallahassee at the time. I am planning to move to GA for a better job opportunity and also better education for my child. Do I have to tell him I'm moving if we never did a visitation plan and all he does is pay child support. I have taken care of our child for 8 years. Can he stop me from moving out-of-state? We were never married. He has moved every where and I had no say so. I'm willing to do a long distance parenting plan but do I need to or can I just move ?

A: If you move more than 50 miles without his written permission or without a court order, he can get it ordered that you must return the child to FL.
