Chiefland, FL asked in Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: Public Housing Officials failed to notify me of rent adjustment, subsequently I have been served with an eviction.

I currently reside in a Public Housing Community. I am very familiar with their terms of Occupancy which requires me to have an evaluation once yearly to determine my rent payment for the following year. After adhearing to their Policy, I was not not notified of a new rent adjustment. With further investigation, the new Site Manager revealed that the previous Manager had neglected to obtain a signature from me. This signature was important because it acknowledged that I was notified and hence awarea of the rent adjustment. I did not sign, (as I did not know until recently), and subsequently have been served with an eviction notice for failure to pay rent. What are my options and how to I respond to the Court? When I contacted the Housing Agency with a partial payment to began a repayment agreement, the new Site Manager informed me that it was too late, and that the eviction had already been filed.

A: Read the summons, you must do all the things that it tells you to do in order to stay there.
