Tampa, FL asked in Domestic Violence for Florida

Q: Can I report dv by wife without press charging? Need to teach her lesson that violence is not the way to get her way.

During every argument when she does not get her way she resorts to violence like physically attacking me with whatever she can lay her hands on like metal flower vase, knives, chair, table lamp. If not she resorts to biting and screaming. I do not want to call cops as I do not want to send her to prison as we have a child together. But since she knows I do not call cops, she does not stop this craziness. I do not lay my hands on her at all but I know if I even push her in self defense she will not hesitate to call a cop and put me behind bars. Can I report this to police so that this is in record without press charging?

A: You do not have the ability to press charges. You can only report it. If the cops find evidence of abuse, they will arrest.
