Sugar Land, TX asked in Family Law for Florida

Q: Family Rights in Child Custody

My wife now lives in Florida and I am in the process of moving.

We currently have fostership of her sister's neices and nephew. 3. The children were taken by the state because she was neglecting them.

The fathers have never been involved in their lives.

I was told Florida law doesn't give us any way of getting permanent custody or adoption.

Can you refer me to someone who might be more educated in this subject area?

A: I am an adoption attorney. The information you got is not correct. You can file for adoption in FL if the kids are in FL. You have to terminate the parental rights of the mother and the fathers.

Use of a lawyer is recommended.
