Q: How much time is my fiance facing in a domestic violence and child abuse case?

My fiance and myself got into a fight he struck me while i was hold our child and struck her in the process not knowingly , this is the first time it ever happen even myself getting struck, the prosecuter is trying to throw the book at him and im asking for like anger managment classes and and probation , again i say this never happened before but they keep trying to force into my head that there is never a case where it only happens once. what can i do in this situation
