Miami, FL asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: How can I owe $40,000 to $45,000 paying $473 a month less than 5 yrs

My case originally started in 2000 with me paying $473 in 2006 my kids mother put in a motion to forgive the balance & a withdrawal as counsel for cs / attorney General & the internal revenue & it was granted by the by the courts so in 2010 I found myself in court which I was ordered to pay my cs threw the courts.from 11/1/2010 to 7/28/15 the courts says that i owe $40,000 but has been garnishing my taxes as well as weekly deductions from my checks if my math is right $473×60 months doesn't add up to $40,000 it just keeps going up & not down what can I do? I have had hearings I've filed motions & no one seems to notice this mistake

A: What you need to do is hire a family lawyer to go over this. What I run into a lot is that the clerk does not calculate the interest correctly.
