Pensacola, FL asked in Family Law for Florida

Q: Will the father of my child be forced to pay for any birthing costs?

Never married. Only loving seperately momentarily. And applied for assistance for the time. If I explain that I only need temporary help and will update it all when we move together as a family a couple months down the road will they still hold him responsible for my birthing costs? Or am I better off just stating he lives with me when he doesn't just so that the state will leave out insurance be, and just starve as I have been. My concern is I'm breast feeding and don't return to work for another couple months, and I'm struggling to keep myself fed to supply the baby with adequate breastmilk.

A: You applied for government assitance, and what the government will do is go after him for the government assistance that you have received in the form of getting an order that he must pay child support. In a paternity action, that can include costs and attorney's fees. It can also include hospital expenses, the expenses of the birth.
