Q: any advice?
I was at a red light behind another vehicle that was turning, I was going straight. When the light turned green and within a few feet (immediately), the vehicle in front of me stopped suddenly for a pedestrian. I bumped into their car. There was not much damage to my vehicle, or to the other vehicle. While we were in a parking lot assessing the situation a police officer showed up and he checked on an accident report that there was 1,500 dollars or more in damages (requirement for the filling of an accident report), but there was not that much in damages to EITHER vehicle. The officer cited me for following too close. He did not see what happened, he said that Oregon state law requires there to be an issuance of a following too close citation to the driver of a vehicle that rear ends another vehicle. any advice?
A: Get a ticket lawyer for this. I had a case about 20 years ago, kinda like this, that I won.
