Q: i filed a police report against my boyfriend who hit and choked me while i am pregnant. the detective on the case said
he has enough evidence to arrest him but can not arrest him unless he knows where he lives. I do not know where he lives. in the meantime i moved so my boyfriend cant find me and i am getting threats and he wants to take away our children what else can i do?
A: Stay in touch with the investigator and show him the threats. The BF will eventually be apprehended, and can be charged with some very serious felonies. How can he fight you in court if he will be arrested for these crimes when he goes there? The father of a child born out of wedlock has no rights in the child unless and until he gets to court and has his rights determined by the court. Also stay in touch with the victim advocate at the local state attorney's office.
A:
File a case for child support and sole custody.
Use of a lawyer is recommended.
