Providence, RI asked in Family Law for Rhode Island

Q: Do I have a right to know who lives with my child at their other parents house?

I have joint legal custody of my daughter, but I have residential custody so she only visits her mom on weekends. Her mother recently had a boyfriend and his children (whom I know nothing about) move into her home. I do not have any contact information for the adult and have not even met them. Do I have a right to be provided with these details (what do I have a right to know) and meet all individuals living with my child? Thanks

A: It is natural for you to have concerns about the people around your child.

If your child's mother is not willing to be forthcoming and you discover that the parties are inappropriate, due to criminal convictions, or otherwise, retain an attorney to file a motion with the court to modify the arrangements as appropriate. It seems that if you have contact information for the mother, I don't see why you would need their contact information.
