Cumberland, RI asked in Family Law for Rhode Island

Q: Updating Child Support

My daughter's father took me to court 3 years ago to set up visitation and child support. He was ordered to pay $50 per week and see her 3 days a week. Since then he has cut down his visitation days. Only sees her 1 time a week, if that. How do I go about updating the child support order without an attorney? Since then, I have found a job, I live in a nicer place. He has gotten raises through out the years and has changed jobs recently. How can I show the court that an update is needed and the child support may need to be increased?

A: File a motion to modify with the court. Of course, this is most expeditious when done with the assistance of a family court attorney familiar with child support modification motions,,.
