Q: convicted of 602k pc calif., indian, shoplifting case, consequences on B1 visa?

I am an indian, was interning in calif. on J1. Got into a shoplifting case just after that I had to leave the country. First I was charged with 484-a infraction. I appointed a lawyer to run my case, and in first hearing one more charge was levied by the prosecutor 459. Finally I was convicted on 602k and rest of the charges dismissed. I paid the fine and my probation is over. Now I want to apply for B1 visa, can you help me how should I talk to the US counsel in embassy?

I have also asked my lawyer for expungement.
