Saint Petersburg, FL asked in Family Law for Florida

Q: Can my ex husband make unannounced visits and pick up our daughter from my house on my time? We have joint custody.

We have joint custody on alternating weeks and live less than a mile apart. One morning my ex decides to wait until my current husband leaves for work, parks in front of our driveway, and picks up my daughter instead of letting her walk to the school bus. I had no idea that he had done it because I was inside getting ready for work. He didn't call, text, or come to the door to let me know he was doing this. When I questioned him about this, he said it was for our daughter's 'safety'. We live in a fairly nice neighborhood, he has let her walk between the homes many times before, and parents in the neighborhood take turns keeping an eye the kids at the bus stop. Our daughter is 16 y/o and he has let her drive to neighborhoods much worse than ours. These unannounced/unapproved morning pickups have happened a couple of times now. Our daughter is a little confused by it, and my husband does not like my ex waiting until he leaves and stopping by. Is this harassment? kidnapping? Thanks!

A: It is not harassment, and it is not kidnapping. There is nothing wrong with this, as I see it.
