Dallas, TX asked in Divorce for California

Q: Out of state divorce

My husband and I want to file for divorce. We are registered in California but he lives somewhere else and I live in Russia. We have no children and not many assets. We want to divide our assets ourselves. How do we go about getting divorced?

A: What does registered in California mean? To file divorce in CA, one of you has to have lived in CA for the 6 months prior to the filing of the case, 3 of which must be in the county in which the case is filed.
