Greenville, RI asked in Family Law for Rhode Island

Q: The father of my children is selling marijuana and he has been providing it to his 18 year old daughter. What can I do?

My ex broke up with me to have another women move into the house we rented. Prior to that has threaten to kick us out including his own 3 year old son and at the time i was 3 months pregnant. I found out this info about him selling weed i heard he set up a room for my kids and will be trying to take them way. He is not listed on the birth certificate. He has not contacted me about his son since he left the house since November 16, 2015. He is verbally and mentally abusive. The only thing i have on me is a title from dcyf that i filed to be removed recently. Can this hurt me?

A: My kids, his kids, very confusing. It sounds like paternity testing may be in order to have a proper father added to the birth certificate. Assuming you have a child in common and the other children are the product of other relationships, you would do well to retain an attorney to assist you in establishing custody, support and visitation for the benefit of "our" child in the family court. DCYF indications of "founded" allegations are not usually construed as positive parenting cues in the family court. But again, the best place to discuss these private details is in a confidential meeting with an attorney of your choosing.
