Marlton, NJ asked in Real Estate Law for New Jersey

Q: We bought a townhome in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina four years ago. The HOA is now requiring us to move our back

screen door ( which was installed by the builder, not us). We are the third owners of the townhome and the door has never been an issue. The HOA now wants us to move the door at our expense since the next door neighbor is installing a privacy wall. She claims that our screen door opens to her property. The Association is stating that they did not install the screen door (Neither did we) and we must absorb the expense of moving the door to the back within 30 days. Is the HOA responsible since the structure was approved when we purchased the property?
