Q: Hi my ex husband willing walked out my daughter's life 5 years ago no contact at all .how do i prove he abandoned her?

He literally got mad at my 11 and walked away( has not paid a dime of support. My daughter now whats to change her last name( hyphen it ) to my husband s last name ( we have been married for 10 years. And he has supported her a emotionally and financially since 4 years old. Do i need my exes permission for this_ if so how do i prove has just disappear ed? Thank you

A: It is surprising that these issues were not addressed in your divorce decree- esp child support. However if they were, you may be able to file contempt motions and pursue The support due to you. If you had an attorney assisting you in the divorce, consider contacting them to assist you. If not, you might also contact any attorney you feel comfortable with for a meeting to discuss retaining them to assist you. You will need the court's permission for any legal name change. This will require proper notice to your ex.
