Cincinnati, OH asked in Criminal Law for Ohio

Q: Can a police officer Threaten to or actually arrest a minor for going to a park when off school on an excused absence?

I was granted permission to leave school to go to the dentist I had tennis close enough to right after school that i didn't want to go back to school or home, it was a beautiful so I decided to go to the park with some friends who had left school for various reasons all of which were completely legitimate in the school's eyes as it was a friday I can understand why the school might think this is suspicious but that isnt what i am concerned about. At about 2 there were a grand total of 7 of us who were literally flying a kite... FLYING A KITE when a police cruiser pulls up and asks me and my friends, "what are you doing out of school" i tell him, "dentist appointment" he calls bullshit, im not using hyperbole here, he quickly dismissed my dentist appointment as "bullshit". HE didn't allow me to finish my story, moving on, grilling each one of my friends in turn, being rude and arrogant and presumptuous often quipping, "i could have all of you arrested". could he have? thanks so much

A: Well, you weren't at the dentist, or on your way to the dentist, or on your back to school after the dentist...so you were cutting school.
