Longmont, CO asked in Animal / Dog Law for Colorado

Q: I'm trying to decide if the statute of limitations has expired for my situation. I am suing a veterinarian for a spay

surgery that was done in 2008. Over the past few years we have had many complications directly related to failed spay (dog still going through heat cycles, etc). In 2014, exploratory surgery was performed. The results were that the spay was only 15% done. I opened an investigation with the VA DHP soon after. They found the vet to be responsible, reprimanded her, and fined her. The results of their investigation didn't arrive until 2 months ago. Now that I have this information I would like to proceed. Is it too late?

A: This is a specific question that is best addressed to an attorney who specializes in animal law (yes they exist). I recommend that you contact any attorney that has greater familiarity with animal law.
