Englewood, CO asked in Landlord - Tenant for Colorado

Q: Mngmt wont talk to me,not responding and/or answering questions about extra charges. Now a demand for rent.

After receiving past due notice, i attempted to contact the office 5x no response. Finally i was informed the charges were for utilities from 3 months ago. Roomate gone bad. I paid it last month. Actually i paid the month due and then an additional month to get ahead of it. After multiple correspondence, The Ass Mngr acknowldges receiving the money order but wont answer where that money went. Manager refuses to answer my emails and told his staff to direct me to the Asst Mngr. Now i have a 3 day demand they are going to serve, not to mention late fees. There is way more to this story but it could take hours. What rights do I have? There is also possible discrimination, due to their uncooperation before and staff member getting fired, after I called coporate. Every single month there is an issue

A: There is a lot here. As a general rule, a tenant must pay all bills (and late fees), even if a roommate disappears. If you paid, make sure that you have documentation (bank statements, cancelled checks, etc.). If management moves towards eviction, you can counter their claims with evidence of payment, etc. I cannot comment on the discrimination issue.
