Q: liable for the death of my birds But does Liability mean the price i sell them at or the replacement of a rare bird

neighbor breeds hunting dogs, I breed rare breed show chickens. They are liable for the death of my birds; If the dog is in my yard (digs or climbs the fence) **If my birds fly over the 6ft fence I exept my lose** But does Liability mean the price i sell them at or the replacement of a rare bird? And if replacement how long of time do they have to replace the bird?

A: If you are in the business of selling these birds, and if your neighbor is indeed liable for the loss of the birds, the liability would be for the lost value of each bird. This amount would normally be the price at which you can prove you would have been able to sell the bird. If the cost to you to replace a bird is higher than the price at which you would sell that bird, something is wrong with your business model, obviously.
