High Springs, FL asked in Child Custody for Florida

Q: Moving to England from Florida with my 7 year old daughter. Need advice.

My daughter's father and I separated approximately 3-4 years ago. She has lived with me full time ever since. He pays child support and has her for the weekend every 2-3 weeks or so. However when he does not have her, he doesn't contact her or have any part of her life whatsoever. I have been struggling here in the states, I have Irish citizenship by descent and my boyfriend lives in England. He has a stable job, home, etc. and has asked us to move there with him. My daughter's father is against the move. Is there anything I can do?

A: The biggest problem you have is that your daughter will need a passport and cannot get one without her father's signed consent. So you will not only need to sue for court-ordered custody (an I assume from what you write that you have not yet done so), but will at the same time ask that he be ordered to give any needed consent to a passport.
