Q: I was treated unfairly by the police. How do I know if they violated my rights?

A: It depends on the facts. Are you alleging a Constitutional violation such as due process, equal protections, right to remain silent ...that resulted in charges being filed on an arrest? Are you a minority? How do you believe you were mistreated? Was there disparate treatment because a protected class? Courts bend over backward to find "good faith" immunity for the po-po. For police misconduct I have always felt it is best to have the Texas Attorney General's Office investigate because they do not have a dog in the fight so to speak.. Good luck.
