Orlando, FL asked in Consumer Law, Real Estate Law and Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: New landlord wants me out b4 lease is up. Good history w/previous. What are my options? A buyout (for move exps)? Help!

Have lived in property(duplex) for 5 yrs & have been very good tenant for previous owner (prop mgmt co can vouch) but new landlord want to renovate both sides (other tenant moved) & tried to evict me upon purchase (2 months ago) knowing full well that my lease was good until Dec.3,2016. I am not against leaving but market here is now very difficult thus saving for deposits & expenses is taking time along with finding somewhere that suits my needs (partially disabled). What are my options? I understand there are "buyouts" of tenants & I'm willing to be reasonable (perhaps the security deposit, 1st month & a bit for moving expenses) but how do I approach? Thank you so very much!

A: Simply ask landlord if he wants you out how much will he offer to buy out the rest of your lease. It's all negotiable.
