Q: We are the parents funding the defense for our son. What information from the lawyer are we entitled to be given.
A: I assume you're in Nebraska and your son is out in California. The lawyer is not required to give you much. If your son says ok, then the lawyer can give you much more info. If your son instructs the lawyer not to tell you anything, the lawyer won't. The lawyer takes orders from the client on things like this. The lawyer should have made you sign a contract under Rule of Conduct 3-100 or so. Check your contract to see what you are entitled to get.
