Canton, OH asked in Animal / Dog Law for Ohio

Q: Hello I want to sue my old neighbors and their landlord for a dog attack. Also possibly the county.

Neighbors dog pushed his way under their fence to attack my dog in his own fenced in yard and hooked on a steel cable, when I tried to intervene, the dog lunged at me. I shot the dog but did not kill it. Yes, I have a CCW. I want to sue the neighbors and their landlord for everything it cost me in bills for vet care, attorney fees, lost wages and lost job. Also, stark county for malicious prosecution.

What type of Attorney do I need?

Thank You

Brian

A: This is mostly in the realm of person injury. I wouldn't get your hopes up about suing the county. They have qualified immunity. It is also unclear how this dog incident could have cost you your job, other than perhaps a criminal charge you faced as a result of the incident, which again, I wouldn't get my hopes up trying to sue the county.
