Portsmouth, NH asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: F/U question NH courts have said they have no jurisdiction over an order originally made in FL.

My friend did contact the NH court system about this case. The problem is, the father wants to send her a check for cs, from jail even though it hasn't been ordered in this state yet. He is doing this thru his mother. I told her the best thing might be to have that check mailed to FL because there is a cs order there, then let the state of FL mail it to her. She said if she did it that way, the father would contest the payment, saying he lived with the family, even though he did not live with them for several years of the time he was in NH.

I told her if she accepts the check to keep careful documentation of everything. This is not an amicable parting. There are restraining orders, DV charges, neglect charges, possession charges, VOP all against the father. Do you still going thru NH where there is no order in place is better than going thru FL, where there is one?

A: If you are the same person who asked a similar question earlier, you indicated that both parents now reside in New Hampshire, that they reconciled there for a while, they have younger children together (not covered by the Florida decree), etc. I suggested that you contact the NH CH agency (not the NH court). Ask the agency how to proceed. I suggest that because the NH agency would be in a better position to figure it out, including the issue of the later-born children.
