Mcdonough, GA asked in Child Custody and Family Law for Georgia

Q: How to prevent NCP from obtaining joint custody?

Daughters father states he will pursue joint custody since I have filed an abandonment warrant against him. He has seen her 30 days total in 20 months & no child support. He lives in AL, they claim they cannot locate him - he's hiding as abandonment warrant from GA sent to same address - he received it. Visitation offered, he fails to come when he states, even allowed visits in my home & had my nanny serve as a neutral 3rd party for his visits. If I will be apart of visit he comes, if I won't be present he no-shows without notice. Stated if I filed for child support he will sign over parental rights in text. He's seeking custody for his mom - who is racist - posts racially charged material on social media. Daughter is biracial and do not want her subjected to this kind of hatred. Daughter had to have an MRI and other serious medical tests, invited him and his mother - none showed up to any procedure. He does not need to be able to make life threatening decisions for my child.

A: If he lives in Alabama, he is not getting joint custody. Just make sure you are preserving all the evidence you mentioned, in case the Facebook page disappears later. Print it out now, or save the file as a pdf to your computer. If he files a case against you, you have 30 days to respond, and you can file a counterclaim for modification of child support.
