Cincinnati, OH asked in Divorce and Family Law for Ohio

Q: will she be given alimony if her standard of living doesn't change after termination of marriage?

We have been married for 3 years. For the first year, I was overseas and she lived with her parents and I was a student and not working them. When I moved here, we lived in her parents house and I was still not working and she was supported by her parents. We lived in her parents house for about 8 months. I then moved to Ohio for work, and she continued to be a student in a different state, living with her parents and being supported by them. It's been like that( with me in a job) for 8 month now. Will she be granted any alimony since her standard of living is not going to change before and after the termination?

A: In a divorce, the court will determine what amount of spousal support, if any, is reasonable and fair based on all the facts and circumstances, income and expenses of both of you, whether she can work, etc. Based on the short duration of your marriage, any spousal support would not be for a very long time. Use the Find a Lawyer tab to consult an attorney where she filed for divorce so you can advise about all the facts.
