Asked in Immigration Law

Q: I'm in the UK and my partner is a US citizen. We want to live together but we're unsure of the best route to take.

We've looked into DCF for people who are married (we aren't yet) and also the fiancee visa.

I have a stable job in the UK and my partner lives in the US with her children and is unable to move. I also can't attend an interview in the US without LOTS of planning.

I have successfully applied for the visa waiver program and have my ESTA approved which I havw already used to enter the US.

My partner is coming to the UK in a few months and we are happy to get married if it speeds the process up.

What is the best type of visa to apply for and what are the steps required?

Thank you!

A: Based on the small amount of information you have provided it sounds like your best route is to marry and you adjust through consulate processing. I suggest you partner in the USconsult with an experienced immigration attorney. You can be present by Skype or on the phone.
