Stanton, CA asked in Small Claims for California

Q: In what ways can I collect once winning a small claims case? Is embargo one of them? The guy has a car, a computer?

Hello, I bought a stolen car about 6 months ago. The criminal case is closed. The thief is on State prison and he confessed guilty of his crimes. My question is, what is the cost of filling a small claims case? do I need a lawyer? If I win, can I embargo his property as a way of payment, by property I mean a car which I do not know if he has paid off fully, an iMac computer worth at most 2k. The guy does not work, but had a respectable job not long ago as a restaurant assistant cook or something like that, can I also like claim what he has on his SSN? I've heard about wage garnishment.

Also, how long will my case take. The guy is already in jail serving his time for the crime he peretrated on me.

I have a lot of evidence and so does police so winning shouldn't be a problem.
